When I pick up a book set in Victorian England and purporting to have fairies in it I come to it with a few expectations regarding the social class of the people involved, the nature of the fairies, and the setting of the story involved. The concept of a house that eats people has always been an intriguing on to me as it shows up extremely often in horror films. That and I have a soft spot for what appears to be a variety of time and relative dimensions in space device. It might be a type 20 as opposed to the more frequently seen type 40.

 In my general pack-rat type way, I picked up The Wee Free Men by Terry Pratchett. I really needed something lighter that the collection of novellas I'd been reading before and this looked like it would fit the part quite nicely.

I'll admit it. I loved this movie. I thought it was extremely funny, the characters memorable and different enough to be rather entertaining to watch on screen. The zombies were fast, the humor was unexpectedly funny rather than silly and Columbus's set of rules actually seemed pretty sensible ( Read more... )
